A great day in Vancouver

  • View of Downtown Vancouver from Lonsdale Quay
  • Visit the idyllic Stanley Park
  • Stroll through the historic Gastown neighborhood

At 5 a.m. we are both wide awake, the jet lag sends its regards. A little later we decide to shower and get up. Since the breakfast buffet doesn't open until 8 a.m., we walk to the Tim Hortons just around the corner and treat ourselves to a drink. After breakfast we march to the Seabus station and cross the Burrard Inlet to North Vancouver. The morning clouds have cleared, what a lovely day. We enjoy the magnificent view from Lonsdale Quay of the skyline of Downtown Vancouver and take some souvenir photos. The same way back to the city center.

We now march on foot via Canada Place to the always impressive Stanley Park. We walk along the coast to the Haida Indian death stakes at Brockton Point. Then we hike across Stanley Park to Second Beach. Only then do we really become aware of the dimensions of this city park. When we finally have a salad at First Beach after 4 hours, my iPhone shows a distance of 21 km! We now take a bus to the historically preserved Gastown. On the way back I buy a hiking backpack from the North Face Store. After a short relaxation in the hostel, we go back to the Bar the Fish Snack opposite. Even today there is an NHL game on the numerous TVs and we treat ourselves to a cold beer. In a snack bar we eat a delicious Angus burger before going to bed tired.
