- Flight with Pacific Coastal from Vancouver to Williams Lake
- Setting up the Dodge caravan with roof tent
- First purchases made
At half past seven in the morning we take a taxi to the South Terminal of Vancouver Airport. After a small breakfast we start to the northeast. The small aircraft with its pilot and copilot can hold just twenty people. We can only squeeze through the aisle to our seat in a strongly stooped position. The view during the flight is almost worth the price of around CHF 100. First it goes out briefly out to sea, then over the fjords over the snow-covered coastal mountains and finally over the sparsely populated expanses of central British Columbia.
After just under an hour, we have already arrived in Williams Lake. Here we are picked up by Alexandra Bergmann, Ädu Arm's sister. We take her to the not really worth seeing center of the place, where she still does some shopping and we stop at Tim Hortons. Now we drive to Alexandra home via the small village of 150 Mile House. She emigrated to Canada when she was 21. After various other places of residence, she has now settled here near Williams Lake. Alexandra owns a big house with a huge swing. It soon turns out that we cannot start today because a spare part for our car has not yet arrived in the garage. Fortunately, this should be the case tomorrow. So we sift through the car, the roof tent and the lavish camping material. Some things are sorted out. We keep grill material, cutlery, pans, camping tables, camping chairs, sleeping mats, spices, maps and much more.
With the huge pickup from Alexandra we drive back to Williams Lake and stock up on groceries for the next few days. Before and during dinner we watch Game 7 between Montreal and Boston, which Montreal wins and thus advances to the Conference Final against the New York Rangers. We eat delicious - who would have thought that - burgers and salads. We can stay overnight in the small cabin for free.
