- As a guest at the traditional Falkland Stampede - our first rodeo
- Drive from Wells Gray via Clearwater, Kamloops, Vernon to Sommerland on Lake Okanagan
- typical North American program Forensic Files - watch mysterious deaths on TV
We wake up in the rain and it is very cold. Since neither of us are particularly hungry and an outdoor breakfast is out of the question, we decide to go straight away. The route back to Clearwater is foggy. Fortunately, the weather is wet and cold only today. On the way we enjoy a breakfast pastry. We continue the drive south along the mighty Thompson River and reach Kamloops around noon, where we stop at Tim Hortons. The weather is getting increasingly dry, but clouds continue to predominate.
Finally we arrive in small nest Falkland. As soon as you enter the town you can see that the traditional Falkland Stampede is taking place here this weekend. We park the car right next to the festival area and get a ticket for 15 $. As soon as we arrive, we start. From pony covered wagon races to horseriding, maverick catching to bull riding, the rodeo has all disciplines to offer. In addition, a rodeo clown provides funny sayings and other entertainment. The rodeo is over for today at around half past four.
We decide to continue the journey towards the Okanogan Valley and look for a motel further south. After a long search, we finally land in Sommerland via Vernon and Kelowna. While driving on the highway along the idyllic and huge Okanagan Lake, we even enjoy the evening sun. Unfortunately, the rooms in the motel are already fully booked, but a camping trailer still offers space for the night. In a pub we eat a simple Thai chicken salad and see forensic files about mysterious deaths in the trailer.
