- View of the Grand Canyon from Lipan Point
- Drive to Paige
- Visit the famous Horseshoe Bend
After breakfast we drive east. We leave the Grand Canyon National Park the same way we drove into it the day before yesterday. At Lipan Point we make another stop and look over the gigantic gorge one last time. The further down it goes, the drier it gets and less and less vegetation lines the way.
After a little over 2.5 hours we arrive in tourist Paige. We look for a motel and find it at the Red Rock Motel. After shopping in the nearby Safeway, we drive to Glen Canyon Dam. Nothing that has to be seen, but apparently a top attraction for Americans. Then we drive to the well-known Horseshoe Bend. The familiar image is often associated with the Grand Canyon, but it shows one horseshoe-shaped Curve of the Colorado River in Glen Canyon. The last few meters of the way lead on foot through deep sand, quite exhausting in this heat. Then we check into the motel and spend the afternoon there. We're going to watch the NHL final game and I'm working on the blog. After double overtime, the LA Kings win Game 2 against the NY Rangers. We go to a nearby Indian restaurant for dinner and watch some TV.
