The return trip south is on the program for today. We leave the cozy campground in Sayward Valley and continue south. The route is very lonely up to Campbell River, then the signs of civilization multiply. The most densely populated part of Vancouver Island follows the Nanaimo ferry terminal in a southerly direction. This can be easily seen from the increasing traffic.
At a rest area we take a lunch break before we continue another hour before we reach Victoria. The navigation device leads us precisely to Zoe's house. Everything works as agreed and we can move into our simple but practically located room. After a short break, we set off for the city on foot. We take a bus to the center and march along the harbor to the parliament building. Many flowers, which thrive here in the mild climate in the south of the island, adorn the city center and make it look pretty neat by North American standards. We visit a few shops and finally end up in an Irish pub where we have a delicious meal. Soon afterwards we go back to Zoe's apartment by bus.
