Downtown San Fransisco

After a simple breakfast in the motel, we set off. The path leads steeply up into the Pacific Heights, from where we look over the well-known sloping streets down to downtown San Francisco.

After a while we reach the 1709 Broderick Street known from Niki's TV series Full House. The pretty row of Victorian houses is really impressive. Moving on to the better known Alamo Square, one of the most famous photo subjects in town. From here one overlooks the city center with more row houses, as they are so typical for SF.

The subsequent longer route to Union Square and thus to the pretty business district of the city we travel in a bus. The famous ones also run there Cable carswhich master even the steepest passages by pulling a cable. We spend some time in various shops and malls, where we eat in one of the inexpensive food courts. Then we march through what is worth seeing Chinatown with lots of Chinese-inspired shops.

Just in time for sunset we take a bus over to the Bay Bridge Treasure Island. However, there is not quite as much going on there as we hoped. The city view with the dominant Transamerica pyramid and the former prison island Alcatraz is still worth seeing. However, a stiff breeze is blowing out there and we will return soon. For dinner there is a simple American dinner, soon afterwards by bus back to the hotel.
