Urgently needed rain

  • Continue towards Yosemite National Park
  • Shop for supplies at another Walmart
  • Arrival in the northwest of Yosemite National Park
  • Coyote pair spotted near the campground

We sleep in until 9:30 a.m., after all, this will be the last night in a motel for a couple of nights. After the Super8's good breakfast buffet, we set off towards the next destination and highlight: The Yosemite National Park wait for us.

On the way near Manteca we stop at one Walmart and stock up on our supplies. Then we leave the busy interstate and turn onto Highway 120. The country is bone dry and after the great drought the following can occur rain urgently need. For the first time in a month we have rain again. The road slowly rises towards the Sierra Nevada. Unfortunately, the thick clouds are no longer displaced and the fog remains.

After driving through the National Forest with the funny name Stanislaus we achieve that Big Oak Flat Entrance of the national park. Cross shortly afterwards two coyotes in front of us the road, but soon afterwards they disappeared into the forest. After all, we can get the very last free campsite on the Hodgdon Meadow Campground to back up. But brr this is it again cool, which is also due to the height. In any case, for the time being there is nothing with shorts and a T-shirt. We find a reasonably dry shelter at the information center, where we cook a quinoa and vegetable stew. Then we drive to the campground and plan the coming days in the car. There is also a delicious glass of white Zinfandel and Lindor balls.
