Unscheduled break on Halloween

  • Bring the car to the service
  • Spend waiting time at the hairdresser
  • Tour of the old town of Eureka as a pastime
  • Car repairs take the rest of the day
  • Waiting at Starbucks
  • Shopping trip to Walmart and the Bayshore Mall

During yesterday's drive towards the coast, we noticed that the car jerks a little when braking. Since an oil change is due anyway, we bring that automobile after breakfast to the nearby NAPA garage. In the meantime we make our way to the town center, which is moderately worth seeing. We often see people in disguise on the streets, after all, today is Halloween. We meet one Hairdressing salon and I decide to use the waiting time to get my hair cut right away. Once again, Niki is only moderately enthusiastic about her American colleagues who are also dressed up. We march through the old town of Eureka with some small shops.

We then receive an email that doesn't bode well. During the vehicle inspection, other things are in particular with the Brakes noticed which ones need to be repaired. At least all the necessary parts are in stock, but nothing will come of continuing the journey today. We finally ins Starbucks Cafe to go and use the free internet there and read something. I sort through the pictures of the last few days while Niki skyps with her colleague Steffi and has fun with the strange characters (whether homeless or just disguised). When our stomach growls in the late afternoon, we eat at an Indian restaurant. The car is then ready for use again. At Niki's request, we go to Bayshore Mall and take a look around. In the adjacent Walmart we stock up on food supplies. Then we go to the motel again for one night.
