The rain thwarted the planning: no Mount St. Helens

  • Send your purchases home in huge packages
  • Skip the weather route tour of Mount St. Helens
  • Continue to Seattle

After we got our things to the last night Home delivery We'll go straight to the independent postal service provider Letterbox. The visibly surprised employee helps us to determine the cheapest option. With a weight of around 18 kilograms, it takes a while to put everything into the square 40 cm cardboard box. Not a cheap undertaking, but considering that the savings are many times higher than the package price and that all the things are related to memories, that's okay.

In the afternoon we want to drive up to the Johnson Ridge Observatory and down to the Mount St. Helens look. The volcano caused a worldwide sensation in 1980 when the entire northern flank collapsed in its massive eruption. The weather conditions were already horrific on the way south. This time there is also the bad luck that the Visitors Center has closed today and the other information centers closer to the mountain have not opened either. Since it is extremely questionable anyway whether we would get to see the still active mountain after the time-consuming journey in these conditions, we decide with a heavy heart to go straight to Seattle.

In Centralia we make another stop, where we in Wendys eat a delicious salad. Then we'll get there Seattle, where we stay with the friendly Adam via Airbnb. Really a great room in a perfect location Capitol Hill close to the city center. We eat delicious, but overpriced Italian food nearby. Back at Adam we use the internet to plan the next few days and Rio.
