One day in Seattle

  • Seattle walking tour
  • By bus to the City Center with the EMP Museum and Space Needle
  • With the monorail on to downtown
  • Stroll through the exciting Pike Public Market
  • Buy coffee at the original Starbucks
  • Enjoy the view from the 73rd floor of the Columbia Center

We have breakfast in Adam's kitchen and chat with our pleasant host. Only after 11 a.m. do we emulate by bus Seattle City Center. This urban area is home to some of the city's most remarkable buildings. Among other things, the striking one is here Space Needle and the futuristic-looking one EMP museum. The free-standing Space Needle, with its height of just 210 m, is not nearly as impressive as comparable buildings in other world metropolises. Furthermore, the price hardly seems appropriate to us.

So we go over to with the monorail Downtown Seattle. In addition to the stormy wind, which blows the leaves in rows from the trees, it now starts to rain heavily. Despite the rain jacket and umbrella, we are on the way to Pike Place Market really wet.

In addition to various fruit, vegetables and the well-known fish-throwing traders, the traditional market also has many interesting things to offer from all over the world. Niki buys organically produced, honey-based body lotion and of course the beloved Beefjerky. You can try something delicious everywhere, which only stimulates hunger. In any case, we then dine deliciously at an Indian buffet. We march further along the waterfront and come across that Original Starbucks Cafe. The success story started here in 1971 and has meanwhile developed into a tourist attraction.

Towards evening the cloud cover tears up a bit and we decide to go to the not too far away Columbia Center to march. Behind the wind-creaking windows of the 73rd floor we enjoy a great view of the Sky View Observatory of the entire city and Puget Sound. This pleasure is not only much cheaper than the Space Needle, it is also a lot higher up. We linger here for a moment and wait until the sun has finally disappeared behind the horizon and the city lights come on.

On the way back we meet them Cheesecake Factory. There we eat deliciously and treat ourselves to one of the house specialties for dessert, which completes a successful day. Back at Adam's we watch a movie on the laptop.
