Bus transfer to the colonial town of Paraty

  • Taxi transfer to Rio de Janeiro bus station
  • 4.5 hour bus ride along the Costa Verde to Paraty

Today we leave Rio towards Paraty. We have breakfast, pack our things and say goodbye to Claudio, Lucy is already at work. The two were really a stroke of luck! We really couldn't have done it better. The hoped-for bus to Rodoviaria Novo Rio bus station does not come for the time being and so we take a taxi, it only costs about 12 francs.

At the bus station, we can easily buy two tickets from the Costa Verde bus company to Paraty. The bus is extremely comfortable, clean and brand new. We'll soon be out of Rio de Janeiro and heading south-west towards our destination. On the way we stop at a kiosk, where we try a delicious dumpling. Otherwise we use the four-hour drive to update our blog and to sort and sort the pictures from the last few days. The route leads along the tropical Atlantic coast with many beautiful bathing bays.

Arrive in Paraty around 4am. At the bus station we take a taxi that takes us to our next place of residence. We are warmly welcomed by Sabrina and Gilson. Sabrina is a native Romanian and extremely talented in languages. Then we use the remaining hours of the afternoon to plan for the next few days. Finally we go on foot to downtown Paraty. The leisurely walk takes about half an hour through a cozy neighborhood. We eat in a small restaurant and take a look around before we march back.
