Waiting in Paraty

  • Excursion to the waterfalls in the rainforest
  • Waiting for food in the popular Tarzan Restaurant
  • Cachaça tasting in a traditional distillery
  • Niki's cheese fondue is unfortunately not in stock

Actually we wanted to travel on to Ilha Grande today. But the island is also extremely popular with the locals and because of the holidays, there are no more vacancies to be found due to the limited supply. So we decide to stay a little longer in Paraty to stay. Although Sabrina and Gilson are expecting new guests today, we can stay with you. The two even insist on clearing their marriage room for us, which is not so good for us. So we will stay here again for three nights, after all, a stay on Ilha Grande would only really make sense for three nights. Sabrina and Gilson want to show us the waterfalls in the rainforest today. But first we have to wait for the new guests to arrive. We use the time to plan our remaining time in Brazil and buy the flight from Rio to Cuiaba, from where we will visit the Pantanal. After some difficulties, Martin and Jena, an Australian couple, finally arrive.

Some time later the six of us sit crammed together in the car and drive towards the mountains. First of all, the stomach growls and we go to the extremely busy Tarzan restaurant, wonderfully located near one of the waterfalls. Then you have to wait. Unfortunately, the whole afternoon passed until we finally received our order. Nevertheless, waiting for short entertainment is relatively short. Martin and Jemma are both British by birth and immigrated to Australia a few years ago. Now they want to travel to South and Central America within a year.

After dinner we take a quick look at the not entirely harmless natural slide. Next door is a traditional one Cachaça distillery. The sugar cane schnapps is one of the main components of the Brazilian national drink Caipirinha. Similar to whiskey or other types of schnapps, there are also a wide variety of varieties up to noble drops and liquors. We taste, but don't buy anything, after all such souvenirs will definitely not find a place in our luggage. It's a shame, after all, the region is known for the best wines.

Later we set off for the city with Jemma and Martin. Yesterday we discovered cheese fondue on the menu of an old town restaurant. It should be Niki's highlight of the day, but unfortunately there is currently no cheese in stock. So it means to keep waiting.
