Named after the Brazilian national hero: Tiradentes

  • Looking for another tour operator for the Pantanal
  • Tour through the historic center of the small town of Tiradentes
  • Visit to the Rococo church Igreja Matriz de Santo Antonio

A awaits us excellent pousada breakfast with all kinds of local cheese, ham, fruit, cake, cakes and Güetzi. Yes, Brazilians love sweets for breakfast! In the last few days we have organized our detour to the Pantanal. Unfortunately, something didn't work out with the transfer from Switzerland, which enraged the tour operator and forced us to look for an alternative. Unfortunately, we spent the rainy morning looking for other trustworthy tour providers and inquiring about offers.

With Tiradentes, perhaps the most picturesque colonial town of Minas Gerais awaits us. We march off towards the nearby one historical center the small town named after the Brazilian freedom fighter. Despite the rain, many people stream through the streets and shops of the pretty town on this Saturday afternoon. Local sweets such as cream candies, cheese and the omnipresent cachaça can be bought everywhere. But craft and artist shops are also well represented and sell furniture, figurines, pictures, clothes and much more. We march up the wonderful alleys to Igreja Matriz de Santo Antonio. The church from the year 1710 also shines with its rococo-style interior and lots of gold for decoration. In addition to tourism, the city seems rather sleepy to us, so a horse sometimes marches through the streets.

After a drink, we walk back to the pousada to check our inbox for new email messages. Fortunately, we have several options, which we want to find out more about before we make up our minds. Then we march again into the town where we will have dinner later.
