Enjoy the full splendor of the Pantanal again

  • Morning excursion along the Transpantaneira with sightings of many other birds, capybaras and a caiman
  • Planning, journaling and bathing during the great midday heat
  • Once again spotted a young crab fox and the usual suspicious animals
  • Continue to Pousada Puvial
  • Uneventful night safari in the Pantanal

After the usual delicious breakfast buffet at the Pousada Rio Claro, we start at 8 a.m. Morning safari on the Transpantaneira to the south. Next to one Caiman, capybaras, jabiru storks and other birds we don't see anything special for a long time. Again and again the road crosses the wooden bridges and spreads out on both sides Forest, swamp and savannah out. Often we are practically in the forest and then we are on both sides of the road again Farmland with cows and horses to see. But the most noticeable are the typical wooden bridges. At the Hotel Mato Grosso we turn around. A little further on we see the bloated one Yellow anaconda carcass. We also see a male one Swamp deer and a green lizard. In the big one heat the animals have long since sought refuge in the shade, which we are now doing too.

Now we have to plan our remaining days in Brazil and decide what else we want to see. At 12 noon we eat at the buffet, after which we continue planning, writing a diary and bathing in the shade.

When we set off again at 4 a.m., we meet another one Crab fox at. Otherwise the animal sightings include more or less the usual of the last days. Capybaras, caimans and all kinds of birds. This section of the Transpantaneira is much more open with a lot of flooded swamp area. 2014_12_07_6

At the Transpantaneira checkpoint there is a lot going on big caiman, which invites you to take a souvenir photo. The reptile is quite used to the presence of humans and does not allow itself to be disturbed by locals even when its tail is picked up.

Soon afterwards we reach the eco lodge Pousada Puvial. The lodge stands on a wide open plain, which is mostly flooded at this time of the year. Many of the typical white cows graze here, herons stand in between and a caiman can be seen every now and then.

Soon after our arrival the usual buffet with mainly local dishes is waiting. Delicious but slowly a bit boring, as similar and identical dishes are always offered. After an unproductive Night safari go to bed with bats and an owl that flies away.
