Muito Bonito

  • Bike excursion to the Balneário Municipal de Bonito
  • Organize tours for the next two days

For the first day in Bonito we have one cozy program compiled. After the usual breakfast buffet, we still use the slow internet connection. Then we rent a bike and cycle with sweaty 35 degrees and high humidity about seven kilometers to the busy one Balneário Municipal de Bonito. You won't find any tourists here, instead it is teeming with locals today, Sunday, who are looking to cool off in the clear water of the river.

After an acai muesli we look for the shadow on us playing two games chess. After an at least somewhat refreshing swim in the leisurely flowing river, another round of games follows. As more and more thunderclouds gather in the late afternoon, we make our way back to the center. Here we get information from several tour operators about the various offers, whose prices are set by the state and are not exactly cheap. Then we have a fruity shake and watch two macaws (one red and one blue) fly over town. Back at the hostel we book the two excursions for tomorrow in the tour office Gruta do Lago Azul and the day after tomorrow Freshwater snorkeling in the Rio Prata.

After a shower, we march from the remote HI Hostel to the center to eat. At one of the restaurants it says Caiman meat (Portuguese Jacaré) on the menu, I'll try that for once! The unfortunately fried meat tastes delicious and is very similar to poultry, albeit with a bit more bite. Finally, we treat ourselves to a nightcap at the Taboa Bar.
