Arrival in San Juan - in the rain shadow of the Andes

  • 10-hour bus ride to San Juan

At 9.30 a.m. ours leaves relatively easy bus Towards San Juan. After the still relatively green stretches of land in the Cordoba region and its suburbs, we are slowly coming to the Semi-desert in the rain shadow of the Andes at. Cacti, bushes, even salt lakes can be seen here. The ten-hour drive during the day has the advantage that you can sometimes see a little more of the landscape gliding by. Traffic or even localities are sparse along the route. As usual, we put the diary and pictures in order, read and sleep.

In the evening around 7 o'clock we finally arrive in the scorching heat San Juans at. Unlike a few days ago, it is dust-dry here, but the thermometer is scratching it 40 degree markwhich is only slightly more pleasant. Where we will spend the night in the reserved Hotel Nuevo Suizo. Whereby only the name of the hotel makes associations with home. Soon afterwards we start looking for a restaurant for dinner, which turns out to be more difficult on Sundays. Finally we find what we are looking for at a simply furnished pizzeria.
