Next stop: Buenos Aires

  • Afternoon arrival in the Argentine capital
  • Currency exchange and first shopping on busy Florida Street

Somehow we seem to be getting used to the long night bus rides, in any case we feel a little better than already. Soon the simple breakfast will consist of biscuits and a typical Argentinean one Alfajores- Pastries filled with Dulce de Leche. We spend the remaining hours on the bus, as usual, reading and snoozing.

Until we finally reach the Argentine capital at 2 p.m. Around live in the metropolitan area 13 million inhabitantswhich makes it the second largest in South America after San Paulo. The different quarters can already be seen clearly from the bus windows. The temperature is slightly over 30 degrees in wonderful sunshine. At the tidy bus station we take a taxi, after all, the centrally located BA Stop Hostel is not too far away.

So we will be staying in a simple but cozy double room for the next six nights. After the overdue shower and a little rest, informing ourselves and orientating ourselves, we go for a walk. One street later we reach the huge one Avenida 9 de Julio. The street is so wide that you cannot cross it during a green light. So we're already in Microcentro arrived. The deep canyons of the pompous and for the most part well-kept-looking facades have a pretty European feel. That has first priority Currency Exchangewhere we convert most of our remaining US dollars into pesos, which is nowhere more attractive than in the capital. It is really worth the effort, after all, you can get up to 13 pesos per dollar on the black market, while it is just under 8.5 at the bank. In order not to have to do this at any of the countless street vendors, we prefer a camouflaged travel agency. A tip from my parents, who were only here a few days ago. Soon afterwards we reach the pedestrians Florida Street, one of BA's shopping hotspots. We stroll through the numerous shops until we finally come to the renowned shopping center Galeria Pacifio to reach. The stomach is definitely growling here, after all, it's time for dinner. At 9 o'clock most of the shops close and we make our way back to the hostel.
