In the morning we spend a little more time planning the further travel route. We decide to stay on the coast without making a detour to the Cordillera Blancha - the highest mountain range outside of the Himalayas with 33 peaks over 5500 m. Then we march in the direction Plaza Kennedy and drink some fruit juice. Since you can't really keep up with local public transport as a tourist in Lima, you take a taxi to the Museo Larco. The private collection of the Peruvian archaeologist Rafael Larco Hoyle is one of the most extensive collections of pre-Columbian art of ancient Peru. When one of the seven advanced cultures in human history viewed, there is a wealth of exhibits to discover!
Comparable to ancient Egypt or Mesopotamia, only much less known but no less exciting. Sculptures, textiles, ceramics and jewelry from different pre-Columbian civilizations of Peru are wonderfully presented and explained by multilingual accompanying texts, including German!
The showpieces of the collection are undoubtedly the Exhibits from the Moche period. But also numerous artifacts worth seeing Cupisnique, Lambayeque, Virú, Chimú and Inka-Culture are wonderfully presented embedded in the premises of the manor house. After visiting the main collection and exploring the spacious and freely accessible storage space, we sit down in the magnificent garden and dine with a salad in the elegant restaurant.
The separate collection is a special kind of crowd puller erotic art objectswhich paid homage to fertility in many pre-Columbian cultures.
Again by taxi to the next one Shopping mall. Niki wants to look around her favorite store Forever21, so we go to Real Plaza Salaverry. After a tour of the huge, ultra-modern mall, it's time to drive back to the hotel.
At 6:30 a.m. we will picked up by Paola and Carla. We met the two Limeñas on our Tambopata tour and agreed to meet in Lima. You drive with us to historical center of the city. Here we visit the Plaza San Martin surrounded by wonderful colonial architecture. The busy pedestrian zone Jirón de la Unión goes to Plaza de Armas de Lima. We are located in the heart of Lima, surrounded by the cathedral, state and city government palace. Unlike what is described in various travel guides, we never feel uncomfortable. Paola and Clara also believe that the situation has improved a lot in recent years. You should still be careful!
Continue to Parque de la Reserva, where the Circuito Magico del Agua attracts numerous visitors. And for a legitimate reason, that the drama from water fountains, sometimes accompanied by music, laser and projector effects, is really worth a visit.
The food is all about it regional specialties. The starter plate consists of tamales verdes, papas a la Huancaina and Anticucho, grilled beef heart on a skewer, which, by the way, is really delicious! Then I choose Pico de Gallina, fried chicken in sause with potatoes. After this feast we say goodbye to Paola and Carla for the wonderful evening.
