- Early morning arrival in the largest city in Ecuador
- Get and compare Galapagos quotes
- Scour shopping centers
It was expected uncomfortable night. We travel along the north coast in a moderately comfortable bus. The sun has long since set, but neither of us have slept when we reach the popular seaside resort of Mancora around midnight. Another two hours later, when we finally got some sleep, we come to the Ecuadorian border at. Fortunately, that turns out to be Border procedures as much more fluid than already.
In the morning at 5.30 a.m. we come in totally exhausted Guayaquil, the by far the largest city in Ecuador with 2.52 million inhabitants. Take a taxi to the hostel, where bad news is waiting! We can do ours Move into the room at 12 noon. Great, nothing came of a little sleep in a real bed.
So we just hang around in the lounge until we get the room around 10 a.m. Even collecting dirty laundry and taking it to the laundry is now a gauntlet run. Only the third laundry still has capacity and is open. Then we visit the two nearby shopping centers. We visit a travel agency which is our first Solicits offers for Galapagos and eat in the food court. Already here we clearly notice that Ecuador not that cheap anymore to travel will be like Peru or Bolivia.
Back at the hostel, we also get tour offers there and explore the internet. Since Saturdays anyway most supplier offices closed and it's already late, we just go back to the shopping center to eat and then back to the hostel early to catch up on sleep.
