- Interview conducted via Skype
- Hike to Cabo San Juan Del Guia in Tayrona National Park
After breakfast, I wait for a Skype call to hold my interview in that slightly unconventional way, which is quite a test of nerves with the weak internet connection. But it works.
Shortly before 11 a.m. it finally starts. The friendly hostel owner drives us to the one about two kilometers away Park entrance. There you have to pay an overpriced 39,000 COP (just under CHF 15) to pay for the subsequent bus yourself. The park rangers search us thoroughly and in an extremely unfriendly manner for alcohol and plastic. As the man after Ron (Spanish for rum) asks, Niki says that this is the ranger's name and introduces himself to him as “Hola mi nombre es Nicole”. Which he - unlike me - doesn't find funny at all.
Then we go through the Dry forest down to the coast. Soon we get rid of our T-shirts, after all, you sweat like hell without moving too much. The path is well developed and often well signposted. After an hour we reach the Arrecifes beach. There we treat ourselves to a fruit salad in a restaurant before we continue on the sweaty path towards the Cape. A whole school class is on the popular trail here. Still we get a family Jumping monkey (Titi-Monkeys) to face.
After another hour we reach our destination, the wonderful, protected ones Bathing bays at Cabo San Juan Del Guia. Here you could spend the night in a tent or a hammock. We swim in the crystal clear waters of the Caribbean Sea, where you could also snorkel perfectly. After relaxing on the beach, taking souvenir photos and an ice cream, it's time for the way back. Because the sun sets early and quickly here, so close to the equator.
We get three right on the way Agoutis to see. Even now, with clouds obscuring the sun, we still sweat like hell. Back at the starting point, you get another bus ticket and after this intense day you go back to the hostel.
