Day trip to the Islas del Rosario

  • Moderate boat tour to the Corales del Rosario y San Bernardo National Park with swimming

We are supposed to be at Molle by 8:30 a.m. After the rest of the tour price has been paid, it is said for the first time waiting. And plenty of it! All other boats - and there are many - cast off in front of us until we finally at 10 a.m. instead of the promised 9 o'clock finally start. As a result, most of the tour participants are already annoyed.

We now take the speedboat out to Isla Rosario for around an hour with a stop at the beautiful but very touristy Playa Blanca. First stop is that Oceanario, which was built in the natural habitat of the animals. Here you have to pay additional entry to see dolphins, sharks and other sea creatures in hardly species-appropriate enclosures to be able to observe or for one Rent snorkel equipment totally exorbitant price. It was clear to us from the start that we wanted to bathe during this time. Not only we were promised that during this time you can also take a bath, which turns out to be wrong. So almost half the group of the boat is waiting at the pier and is very angry! The captain only reacts with incomprehension!

We're going back to Playa Blancawhere food is waiting first. What still just works for me, doesn't work with Niki's gluten intolerance of expected masses and others wait forever for their fried fish.

At least the wonderful Caribbean-blue water and the fairly populated sandy beach are somewhat of a compensation for that miserable tour. We would have better just taken a water taxi here and had a leisurely day at the beach.

Back in Cartagena we replenish our cash reserves and have a delicious Asian meal. Then we have to pack our things for tomorrow's onward journey.
