Welcome Retos to Salt Lake City

  • Picked up the two Retos at Salt Lake City Airport
  • Excursion to Antelope Island
  • NY Strip Steak at its finest at Ruth & Chris Steakhouse

After a cold night and breakfast, I pack my things. At around 10 a.m. I leave the idyllic Uinta National Forest and turn into the densely populated residential area around Salt Lake City. After about an hour's drive, I park at the airport and wait. I shorten the waiting time of three hours by following soccer games. Unfortunately, the Swiss national team is unable to please in their second group game against France this time and goes down with 2: 5.

Shortly before the game is over, Reto Gyger and my brother Reto arrive almost an hour late.

The capital of Utah and the Mormons doesn't have too much to see, so we decide to take a trip to Antelope Island. We drive north on the heavily frequented I15 and then over the dam to the island. The island, which is protected as a state park, serves as a retreat for bison and fork jacks. It doesn't take long until we see the first bison in the wide meadows. A spectacular sight with the huge salt lake and the mountains reflected in it in the background. After these first impressions for the two of them, we drive back to the Comfort Inn. In the noble Ruth & Chris Steakhouse a huge and extremely tasty New York strip steak is distorted. Now we're off to the Heia. After all, the two of them have had an extremely long day.
