Any car repairs

  • Bring the car to the garage
  • Skype with Niki
  • some repairs are required and delay my departure for another day
  • Downtown Calgary walking tour
  • delicious Mexican farewell dinner in a restaurant

I get up shortly after 7 a.m. and bring my car to the nearby garage. Back in the room, I skype with Niki for a long time. Soon I'll be getting bad news. While checking the car, serious problems with the brakes and other problems have been found. The associated parts have to be ordered first, which will delay my departure for another day. Since I have next to no knowledge of auto mechanics and the whole thing is also in English, I have the report emailed to me. I take a look at this report on the findings with Carl and the help of the Internet before I talk to Ädu Arm (the car owner ->www.canaaussie.ch) via Skype and discuss the next steps with him.

After I told the garage what should be mended, Carl took me to the LRT station. I drive downtown and look around the Mountain Equipment store, but don't buy anything. We continue on foot through Downtown Calgary. 7 Avenue is a relatively cozy pedestrian zone with lots of restaurants, shops and people strolling around. Soon I see the red, somewhat outdated Calgary Tower in the skyline. Otherwise, the city does not have too much to see, a typical North American city. I continue to march towards the Stampede Grounds. There I get back into the LRT and drive to the agreed place. I have a delicious Mexican farewell dinner with Carl, Judy, Rebecca and Aaron in the Salt & Pepper restaurant. Because the two of them will move out the day after tomorrow, but will remain in Calgary. Of course, the two pitchers Margarita should not be missing either. At home, I skype for the first time since my departure with mom and dad, who has to go to work. I spend the rest of the evening writing a diary.
