Excursion to the Chapada dos Guimaraes National Park

  • Rainy morning to rest in the hotel
  • Tour through the town of Chapada dos Guimaraes
  • Short hike to the Véu de Noiva waterfall
  • Visit the Mirante Morro dos Ventos viewpoint

After the delicious Brazilian breakfast buffet, as always, we use the rainy morning to use the exceptionally fast internet connection. Niki skyps longer with her mother while I update my blog again.

Then we'll do one Tour through the pretty town, where we treat ourselves to a fruit juice and snack. Unfortunately, there is nowhere to find a map of the region. The weather is getting better and better, so we are now with our VW Golf rental car in the Chapada dos Guimaraes National Park drive. There we want to Cachoeira Véu de Noiva March (bridal veil waterfall).

A short path leads through the typical Cerrado Dickickt to the edge of the break. From a viewing platform we look over to the imposing 86 m high waterfall. There is a restaurant and souvenir shop next door, somehow the Brazilians perceive National Park a little more freely than usual.

We continue to the lookout point Mirante Morro dos Ventos. For a small fee we can drive between villas to another viewing platform. The table mountain-like rock formations are vaguely reminiscent of the American Monument Valley, albeit greener.

A little further would be that Geodetic center of South America, but the road there is only partially suitable for cars and so we let it be. We are still driving towards Ciudad de Pedra, one of the highlights of the park, but it is already a bit late and the road is unpaved, so we end this venture.

Back in the Pousada Rios let's write some more diary and Niki skyps again. Then there is an aperitif in an Italian restaurant before we eat in a tapioca bar and try some fruit juice.
