After arriving late the night before, today is the tour of the hilly old town Valparaísos on the program. We have breakfast in the apartment and start walking freshly strengthened. We start with the ride on the antique one Ascensor Baron. Numerous lifts and rack railways from the turn of the century are still in operation in Valpo and are now protected as a national monument.

Countless market stalls were set up this Sunday, most of them Second hand goods to sell. This also includes numerous items (such as clothes and electronic accessories) that would have ended up in the bin with us long ago. Which shows that at least parts of the Chilean population are financially not well bedded. But there are also flea market stalls that real collectibles advertise. From ancient magazines and books to Art Nouveau figures, lamps, cameras, jewelry, dishes and much more. However, we do not make any major purchases.

The peculiar one goes deep underground Ascensor Polanco high up in the residential area, which has numerous wonderful graffiti waits, but just as many stray dogs and leaves a somewhat unkempt impression. During a stopover there is coffee and cake.

We continue along the bay, which is mainly occupied by the busy harbor. Typical Latin American parks can be found here as well as numerous cafes, shops and hotels. By Ascensor Conception we drive up to the pretty, but touristy quarter of the same name. Here you have a wonderful view over the city and you can see other graffiti that is well worth seeing. In the meantime, the morning Pacific fog has dissolved and it has become summerly warm.
