San Telmo and Tango

  • Organize a trip to Uruguay
  • Wander through the charming streets of San Telmos
  • Visit the evening tango show at Cafe de los Angelitos

We spend the morning with organizational problems. Since our supply of USD is now almost exhausted and we want to continue to use the currency advantage of the black market, we are examining several options. Money courier services recommended to us (such as Azimo and Smallworldfs.com) with significantly better exchange rates than the official rate are currently not available for Swiss people. So we decide to go on a day trip to Colonia del Sacramento in Uruguay. Firstly, the old smugglers' town is a real gem, and secondly, it should be possible to withdraw USD from ATMs. In the short term, the ticket for the ferry costs a lot more with the high demand, but it's worth it to us.

So we walk through them Florida Streetwhere, as always, Cambio, Cambio can be heard from every corner. We buy tickets for tomorrow's excursion from the ferry company Seacat.

Via Subte we drive to Independencia station and march from there through the charming streets of San Telmos. The neat facades of the colonial buildings are truly a feast for the eyes. After lunch in a cozy restaurant, we visit various leather, accessory and antique boutiques as well as the central market. San Telmo works like a village in a huge city and has its charm. We march back towards the center, where we finally find the Plaza de Mayo arrive.

We'll soon get ready for tonight's program. In keeping with the frame, we throw ourselves into our chicest clothes that backpackers have with them. At 8 p.m. we are picked up by a bus and taken to the Cafe de los Angelitos brought. A delicious meal awaits you in a richly decorated Art Nouveau hall Three-course menu on our hungry mouths. Then comes the one typical of Buenos Aires Tango show with dance, music and singing.
