No poor man's Galapagos

  • Ballestas Islands tour canceled due to bad weather
  • Bus ride to Lima
  • Tour through the noble Miraflores

This morning we go on the second part of our day tour. We take the tour minibus again to Paracas. There we should get on the boat and start the one-hour drive out to the animal-rich islands. But Fog and probably also high waves let's not start. So we wait - again without related information - on the beach of Paracas. At 9 o'clock we finish the whole thing disappointed to call off and by taxi back to Pisco to drive.

We'll buy tickets for them there Bus ride to Lima 10 O `clock. At the hotel we collect our luggage, get some of the tour money back and march to the bus terminal of the Flores company. Our four-hour drive to the Peruvian capital begins there. Since Lima does not have a central bus station, we do not know exactly where the journey is going. After 4.5 hours we finally got through the traffic chaos 8.5 million metropolis made. Depending on the source, it is even the 3rd or 4th largest metropolitan region in South America.

The capital and by far the largest city in the country is apparently in the middle hostile desert section on the coast. Not particularly inviting at first glance turns out to be in the busy district Miraflores a completely different picture: Everything is clean, ultra-modern but also somehow interchangeable. We move into our room in the well-located Allpamama hostel and explore the area on foot. The ultra-modern is located just a few blocks further into the cliff LarcoMar shopping center. Somehow we both enjoy it Feeling of the modern big city, we've practically not had that since Buenos Aires!

As the sun approaches the horizon, we march to the Óvalo de Miraflores and explore numerous other shops. After dinner we continue through the big one Saga Falabella and finally back to the hostel.
