Advancing to Necocli

  • Onward journey via Monteria to Necocli

Since we decided against the direct, two-day sea route to Panama, there is something here today and tomorrow morning cumbersome onward journey along the coast. After I loudly told the hotel employee what I thought of their laundry service, we're good to go. The laundry was over a day late and not even complete. So I just pay half the price and we get into a taxi to the bus terminal far outside.

We have one there minutes later Bus to Monteria. The road conditions are pretty moderate and the driver drives pretty much at the limit, which makes the four-hour drive rather uncomfortable. From there, a slightly smaller, crammed bus full of locals continues to the town Necocli on the Gulf of Uruabá. Around 5 p.m. we arrive in the provincial nest Necocli, sweaty and shaken. Tomorrow morning the speedboat goes from here across the gulf to Capurgana.

We stay in the brand new Hotel Panorama. But as so often turns out to be South American construction not our quality standards corresponding. Somehow everything seems to me like in the Wild West, behind a pretty facade there is usually a simple building full of defects, which doesn't give the impression of being particularly durable.

We explore the town on foot. Not particularly inviting Beach celebrate children lively a birthday and others play football. Otherwise there isn't much going on here. We buy fruit and yogurt for breakfast and reserve the boat tickets for tomorrow.

After a beer we want to go out to eat, but finding a restaurant ourselves that offers something other than the usual deep-fried chicken is not that easy. Finally we will find what we are looking for. Soon afterwards we go to the hotel room.
