There is no other animal that fascinates me as much as big cats. They are incredibly powerful with beautiful fur. The majestic lions, lonely tigers, powerful jaguars, the shy leopards or the super-fast cheetahs make up the group of big cats. Each of these cats has a strong and unique character and appearance and coat.
These pictures show Bengal tigers or Bengal tigers in the legendary Ranthambore National Park, im Panna National Park, in Kanha National Park and in the famous Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh. A childhood dream was remembered with a tiger safari in central India.
Leopards are true masters of camouflage. Their ability to roam through the forests almost silently and adapt perfectly to their surroundings makes them one of the most fascinating big cats.
In India I was able to see leopards in the wild in Panna National Park and in Jawai, a region known for its rocky landscapes. The coexistence of the leopards with the people living there is particularly impressive.
Also in Sri Lanka Leopard sightings are one of the highlights. The Yala and Wilpattu national parks offer ideal conditions for photographing these shy animals. Their majestic appearance and dense spot pattern make them unmistakable and fascinating at the same time.
At speeds of up to 120 km/h, the cheetah is the fastest land mammal in the world. Its elegant, slender stature and characteristic black tear stripes make it unmistakable. On safaris in Namibia and South Africa, I was able to document the incredible speed and agility of this big cat.
