Colombia pictures: My photo highlights

Colombia - an up and coming travel destination in Latin America

Colombia, the second most populous country on the continent looks back on a rich, but not always glorious history. During a trip to Colombia you will discover the beautiful and diverse land of coffee. The Colombians are known for their hospitable manner. But the landscapes of Colombia are also among the most interesting and varied on the continent, as they range from dense jungle forests to snow-capped peaks of the Andes and inspire the heart of a traveler.

Capital Bogotá

Bogotá - The metropolis, capital and center of the country lies at over 2600 meters above sea level in the fertile Andean highlands. They are worth seeing for tourists Old town La Candelaria with the Plaza Chorro De Quevedo. The famous gold museum Museo del Oro represents countless finds from the most diverse pre-Columbian cultures of the country.

Zona Cafetera - In the heart of the coffee highlands

The cozy little town Salento is the ideal base for exploring the area, which is available as Zona cafetera is known. Here you can go on trips to a coffee farm, to the Quindio wax palms in the Valle de Cocora and Znumerous Hummingbirds take pictures in Reserva Natural Acaime. The area offers a variety of typical Colombia pictures and impressions.

Medellín - a city in transition

Medellin - Formerly known for her drug cartel Pablo Escobar and the high crime rate has changed rapidly since then. Today is remembered in the modern and tidy city center El Poblano hardly anything left in this gloomy, not too long past past. Because of the moderate temperatures, Medellín is also known as the “City of Eternal Spring”.

Caribbean dream: Tayrona National Park

From the airport near Santa Marta you can go directly to Parque Nacional Natural Tayrona. The national park is the epitome of the Caribbean dream with wonderful beaches, crystal clear water and intact rainforest, which extends to the coast. A wonderful day hike leads to the bathing bay at Cabo San Juan Del Guia.

The dreamlike sand beaches draw in to the east Palomino further and are the ideal place for some relaxation and a beach holiday.

Cartagena de Indias: pearl on the Caribbean coast

Cartagena de Indias is known as Colombia's crown jewel on the Caribbean coast and delights its visitors with what is perhaps the most beautiful colonial old town of the continent and exciting history. Blooming Bougainvillea on colorful facades, cobblestones, a lot Afro-American flair and numerous attractions such as the cathedral that Puerta de Reloj or the huge city wall. Cartagena is one of the highlights of a Colombia trip for many reasons and guarantees great Colombia pictures.

In front of the city are the Islas del Rosario with the Corales del Rosario y San Bernardo National Park with numerous coral islands and wonderful beaches.

On the Necocli at the Gulf of Urabá we get to the stand paradises of Sapzurro and Capurganá, from where we set off by motorboat to the San Blas Islands, which belong to Panama, and leave Colombia behind us.
