Elephant pictures: My photo highlights

The African elephant (Loxodonta africana) - the largest land mammal in the world - is one of my favorite animals. You can watch elephants for hours and they never cease to fascinate and impress me. The mostly gentle giants are extremely adaptable to different habitats. They live in dense tropical forests, climb mountains, roam the vast African savannah and even live along the dry river beds of the Namibian desert. Gigantic bulls - the so-called Big Tusker - are just as fascinating as baby elephants or their behavior as a herd.
