Engadin & Graubünden

Engadin Pictures & Graubünden Photos: My photo highlights

My best Engadin pictures & Graubünden photos:

The Engadin high valley in Graubünden is a true outdoor and hiking paradise. The - by Swiss standards - low population density leaves the Nature, flora and fauna still some space. The Graubünden heraldic animal - the Alpine Ibex - can be wonderfully observed and photographed in some places. Ideal basic requirements for Engadin Pictures & Graubünden Photos.

Upper Engadine - Engadine Lake District around the posh spa town of St. Moritz

All around St. Moritz are the scenically worth seeing Silsersee, Silvaplanersee, Lej da Champfèr and St. Moritzersee, which provide a wonderful destination and photo subject at any time of the year. The Upper Engadine is through the Bernina Pass with the Poschiavo and through the Malojapass connected to the Bergell; to the north it connects the Julier Pass with the Oberhalbstein and the Albula Pass with the Albula valley.

This natural splendor is particularly worth seeing during the short but colorful Golden October, the Swiss version of the Indian Summer. The yellow colored larches, the deep blue sky and the clear lakes have a wonderful contrast. One of the classic postcard subjects in the region and for great Engadine images.

From Pontresina there are numerous worthwhile excursions, for example in the strongly changing Morteratsch valley  with the glacier of the same name or the original one Val Roseg.

Lower Engadine - Swiss National Park

The narrower and wilder Lower Engadine is located a little less high, but is no less worth seeing. The Lower Engadine is over the Flüela Pass with the Landwassertal near Davos and via the Furnace pass connected to the Val Müstair. The pretty villages Zernez, Tarasp, Scuol, Ardez or the particularly attractive Schellen-Ursli-Dorf Guarda have a lot of charm, beautiful Engadine houses and serve as ideal starting points in the region.

The highlight of this region is certainly the natural one Swiss National Park with his big ones Wildlife populations consisting of deer, chamois, ibex, marmots and now and then a rare Swiss bear.

Graubünden - the largest Swiss canton

The canton of Graubünden also offers an abundance of wild, natural landscapes and mountain valleys, which is of course a true paradise for a landscape photographer like me and ideal for magnificent Graubünden photos. The Bündnerland is divided into the administrative districts of Albula, Bernina, Hinterrhein, Imboden, Inn, Landquart, Maloja, Moesa, Plessur, Prättigau-Davos, Surselva.
